Item Generator

This is a random item generator for the Pathfinder roleplaying game. The generator can, for example, randomly generate treasure or randomly generate magic items for a shop. Input either a number of items or a maximum total price (or both) in order to start generating items. You can use the probability filters to control the probability of certain types of items. You can use browser bookmarks to save generator configurations. Such bookmarks could allow you to quickly generate items with a certain configuration if you're in the middle of a session.

General options

Constrains how many items to generate. Depending on other filters, this amount may not be reached. If not given, the number of items to generate will be determined by the price constraints below.

Attempts to generate items approaching this price limit. If combined with the above amount filter, the total price will be distributed among the items and may be further constrained by the below price range filter. If neither this nor the price range filter is given, prices will be entirely arbitrarily chosen.

Each generated item will be within this price range. Note that this filter may conflict with the above total cost and amount filters.

Constrains the items based on their sources. Use the text box to search for and add source filters. Items must originate from a source with a ticked checkbox. Items may not come from any source with an unticked checkbox.

Constrains the items based on their tags. Use the text box to search for and add tag filters. Items must have a tag with a ticked checkbox. Items may not have any tag with an unticked checkbox.

Probability options

Determines the probability of each type of item being chosen when generating. An item type's probability of being chosen is equal to its given weight divided by the sum of all the weights. Set a weight to 0 to never generate items of that type. The default weight distribution is loosely based on the Core Rulebook's random magic item generation rules.

Specifies the probability of choosing a specific item when generating armor, shields or weapons. When generating an armor, shield or weapon, a specific item or a generic item may be generated. A specific item is an item actually found in the database (see the Browse tab). A generic item is an item based on a non-magical item, which is then optionally augmented with magical enchantments. For example, Holy Avenger is a specific item while a +2 Leather Armor is a generic item.

Specifies the probability of assigning special abilities to randomly generated generic armor, shields or weapons. Note that special abilities are always granted if the item's enhancement bonus would otherwise be above +5.

Specifies the probability of an item being cursed. Cursed items may either be specific cursed items found in the Pathfinder books, or randomly generated items may be randomly chosen to be cursed. For generic items, the generator will only choose a general curse category – how the curse exactly manifests requires interpretation. See Paizo's rules on cursed items for an overview of what the different curses may do.
